PR Notes: It all started when a producer with msnbc called me Wednesday afternoon to try to set up a live interview that evening with a Texas public school teacher on “The Ed Show.” That was my second national media inquiry of the day. I didn’t have much time to work with my supervisor on choosing one of our members for the interview. The producer requested someone who was in a major Texas city and who could talk about the budget cuts at public schools in the state as well as how teachers feel about doing more with less money and resources. After finally lining up a San Antonio member to do the interview and preparing talking points, our spokeswoman for the evening was coached, particularly for questions concerning our governor. Ever since Rick Perry officially announced he’s running for president, he’s been the talk of the press. But we didn’t imagine he would get this much air time leading up to our interview.
